This report has been prepared based on input collected from two threshing sessions and an on-line questionnaire, each method involving about 25 Friends. Several themes emerged including 1) how we are doing in balancing administrative work with nurturing our spiritual journeys, 2) welcoming newcomers, 3) in-reach to those attending and to long-time members who rarely attend, 4) outreach to those in the community, and 5) how we feel when Meeting is at its best. In addition, children attending First Day School voiced their opinions on important matters of what they might want to experience and offer. Responses from children on what they want to experience included less hatred in the world, less pollution, more love, and more fun. The children want to give help, hope, and love. Continue reading
All Meetings for Worship and for Business in the Second Quarter of 2010 have been held in good order. We are currently working to strengthen our existing community while simultaneously integrating newcomers, and we hope to reconcile attending to the details of business while enriching the spiritual dimension we bring to the business process.
Peace and Social Concerns has sponsored several projects in the past year. The focus has been on the interconnectedness of peace, justice, the environment and energy.
The content and format of the Spiritual State of the Meeting Report for 2010 departs from the reports of recent years in an effort to focus on a smaller number of priority issues. Through reporting the comments of those participating in the preparation of this report, our intent is to describe key positive and negative feelings (apples and onions) and to identify a few specific items to work on throughout the year. It is important to note that the views presented in this report are not necessarily the Sense of the Meeting, but collections from responses by many. Continue reading
Our Meeting has been working to define procedures for maintaining membership records. Ministry and Counsel is responsible for collecting birth, death, membership and marriage information and is experimenting with new practices to promote a settled atmosphere at the beginning of Meeting for Worship and decrease numbers coming and going during the settling period, in the hope that this might enhance the quality of our worship.
